Expert Dialogue Systems

Expert Dialogue Systems (EDS) are user (client) interfaces which use Boolean logic to support decisions. They assist in the assessment of options through expert inference models which can include the simulations of the outcomes as a basis for comparing decision options. EDS is applied in a large range of diagnostic applications.

The George Boole Institute is initiating a review of EDS so as to identify new and useful applications.

Three examples will be reviewed in some detail:

  • Structural Production Functions - real economy modelling systems
  • Proposal & Project Evaluation - transparent evaluation systems
  • Cost-benefit - direct comparison systems
All of these fall under a generic title of Distributed Management Systems (DMS) and the appropriate structures and use of associated document flow systems will be described.

Briefs on each topic will be posted soon as part of the 2007-2008 Workshop series being managed by ISEE (The Institute of Systems Engineering Economics).
